Apparently I'm going to need a new TV starting tomorrow.

... one that has a way to watch three programs at once.

Why?

Three words.

World Cup... Wimbledon... Tour de France

All at the same time.

Tour de France will of course not be the same without Lance Armstrong... but almost bigger news is that Jan Ullrich and Ivan Basso -- the two who were going to gut it out for Lance's coveted yellow jersey and 1st place on the platform this year -- are out on doping charges. Poor guys... Well, dumb guys, actually. I guess the Discovery Channel team will actually have a chance, then.

Germany - penalty kicks - bummer for Argentina.

Sania Mirza out in the first round... but played a rather good match I thought against the #7 seed. Too bad she is still to 'young' to close out a match properly. She really could've won. She has her doubles career, though.

I am planning to jump on a jet to London next Friday night if by some miracle Andre Agassi makes it to the finals against Roger Federer. That would be worth the plane ride.

OK back to work and surfing channels.

Hmm...I would really struggle trying to get into a bike race or soccer match. Must be the "ugly american" in me!

Now Tiger baseball, that's a way to spend an afternoon!

It's like a sports junkie's trifecta! Will the children be feeding themselves next week? I would also love to see Aggasi do well but I think he'll be watching the final from the stands. Call me if you take that flight though - maybe I'll meet you for strawberries and cream at centre court! :)

On Thanksgiving

I read an article this afternoon titled, “You have permission to not be thankful this Thanksgiving”.     The author’s point was that no one should have to force themselves to be grateful just because a date on the calendar prescribes that we should be thankful.     She even brought in to her argument the fact that “the original Thanksgiving” (think Pilgrims and Native Americans) was a horrible affair sans turkey or any feelings of thanks or of giving or of compassion and humanity.     True enough, I suppose. I would never argue that someone should be forced to be thankful.     I would never say that someone should be compelled to give thanks for things that they don’t have or for things which have been ripped from their grasp.     Forced joy is not joy.     I get that.   However, if I’m going to argue about anything, I would choose to argue passionately about one thing in this regard.  And here's the reason:   I ...

                It’s election day here in America.     A day of red, white, and blue.     Many people have already cast their vote, but others are waiting in lines at polling places, eager to fulfill their civic duty.
