Rain Day

Growing up in the midwestern USA, there were countless cold winter mornings when we would plop ourselves in front of the TV hoping, dreaming, praying that we would have a snow day. When the words "Southfield Christian School" scrolled along the bottom of the screen, unbridled rejoicing would take place. HOORAY!

In India of course, we have no snow. (Well, there is snow in some parts of India, but that would be in the mountains, far, far from where we live.) So dear little Clark and Claire have no hope of experiencing that same feeling of joy associated with a snow day.

Or so I thought.

Today, about one minute after I had left the house... kids dressed and ready to go, homework bags packed, my mocha latte (homemade) in hand, and Libby along for the ride to the gym... the phone rang and Kevin was on the line. "Someone from school called and said that school is cancelled today due to the heavy rain."

Wow! A "Rain Day"

The rain was indeed coming down quite hard. The streets were beginning to flood. Admittedly it was quite a mess... a traversable mess, but a mess nonetheless.

So today, for the first time ever, the children get a free, unexpected day off from school. The day will be filled with puzzles, games, play-doh, coloring, reading books... and hopefully naptime!

Thank you, God, for the rain!
