Unexpected
Got SMS messages and phone calls today saying that the kids have two unexpected days off of school Monday and Tuesday. Although they both like school, this did come with jubilant smiles and quiet cheers of delight.... for kids and parents alike! (We can sleep in a little later tomorrow morning rather than dragging our tired bodies out of bed at the still-dark-hour of 5.45am... woo hoo!)
School is cancelled because of the tragic bombings in our city that happened last night. The city is observing a 'bundh' or a city-wide boycott/closure for safety and political stance reasons. All is well, there is no rioting or aftermath from the attacks, but the city officials felt it best to ask everyone to close down for a day.
The slightly sad part of school cancelled tomorrow for Claire is that they were planning a field trip to the ice cream factory. Hoping they will reschedule that one as the children all really like that particular trip. Hmmm I'm wondering if they need any parent helpers for that outing... ice cream factory? Who wouldn't love it!
So, that means that tomorrow will be family fun day! Hotels will still be open, so Kevin and Clark are going to go for haircuts... and by the evening, the local IMAX/multiplex theater will be open, so we're going to go see Ratatouille. The kids saw that movie when we were in Denver with my mom... but it just arrive here last Friday and there are so few kid-friendly movies here that we're going to go see it again anyway. I am definitely looking forward to the movie popcorn... my favorite part!
An unexpected day filled with togetherness and memories. I hope we have fun!
