New Friends?

Apparently I have gone completely off the deep end during the events of the last week.  

In the stress of a variety of things, these two little cute creatures have brought me a considerable amount of joy.  

Claire picked them out (kitty for her; bunny for Clark) while we were in Agra with my mom.  However, since returning from Agra, they have taken up residency on my desk.  And every time I look at them they made me smile inside.  

Silly, I know.  A completely ridiculous thought.

"She's gone completely nuts!" you say.

Sure, you're probably right.  But sometimes you just have to find joy in the simple things in life when the complicated things are too overwhelming to think about. 

So here is to my new friends Kitty and Bunny... May we share many fun yet stressful days in the years to come... :)

I am so glad you find joy in them, but I am afraid I would find joy in including them in the 27 Fling Boogie. I know you are aghast! Oh, my friend, you have so little clutter in your home, enjoy these . . . ah, lovely pieces of china.

On Thanksgiving

I read an article this afternoon titled, “You have permission to not be thankful this Thanksgiving”.     The author’s point was that no one should have to force themselves to be grateful just because a date on the calendar prescribes that we should be thankful.     She even brought in to her argument the fact that “the original Thanksgiving” (think Pilgrims and Native Americans) was a horrible affair sans turkey or any feelings of thanks or of giving or of compassion and humanity.     True enough, I suppose. I would never argue that someone should be forced to be thankful.     I would never say that someone should be compelled to give thanks for things that they don’t have or for things which have been ripped from their grasp.     Forced joy is not joy.     I get that.   However, if I’m going to argue about anything, I would choose to argue passionately about one thing in this regard.  And here's the reason:   I ...

                It’s election day here in America.     A day of red, white, and blue.     Many people have already cast their vote, but others are waiting in lines at polling places, eager to fulfill their civic duty.
